EXTREME URBAN THERAPIES FOR RECOVERY, TRANSFORMATION & ADAPTATION

The International Postgraduate Master Resilient Spaces aims to improve professional response to the ongoing global transformations of urban environments given by the current climatic, social and economic crisis. The Master course has the following goals:

  • Establish resilience as a powerful tool for architects and planners allowing them to design and control the urban metamorphosis following social problems, conflicts, climate change, and humanitarian emergencies.
  • Construct the capacities to dialogue with the multiple professional figures involved in the definition and application of design strategies for cities under pressure.
  • Promote new professional roles and new job opportunities for architects and planners making them able to respond to the new challenges that the global society is facing today.

Career

The Postgraduate Master course Resilient Spaces creates an innovative professional profile with skills and tools in the field of urban recovery, transformation and adaptation following climatic, social and economic crises. The courses will focus on: planning, architecture, urban design, cross-cultural understanding and community engagement while allowing students to work with local communities, governments and multiple professional figures in an interdisciplinary framework.

Workshop

Resilient Spaces is concluded by a two weeks workshop in Venice with the students working side by side with professors and outside experts to finalize their master thesis.

Academic path

Resilient Spaces is formed by three online academic modules: toolbox, operational manual and process design. Each module is composed by three courses (32 hours – one week) hold by highly qualified professors and completed by a series of talks by global experts presenting key institutions and significant best-practices.

INTERNSHIPS

Internship Experience

The Master Resilient Spaces is accredited with international organizations, administrations and offices for the required internship to complete the credits necessary to obtain the master degree (the minimum period of internship is 6 months). Students can also carry out their internship at other institutions individuated through an open discussion with the numerous guests that will participate in the master. The board will discuss with each student the different possibilities in order to provide solutions tailored to his/hers own needs and expand the partners network.

Admission informations

Online-course + Workshop in Venice + Internship and thesis
1 Year plus 1 semester of Internship and Thesis in 2022. Candidates should hold at least a bachelor degree.
